Kevin Henry Porter, 56, of Iola, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday at the VA Hospital in Temple. A memorial service, with Pastor J.J. Wilson, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 13, at Carlos Baptist Church, 7067 Hwy 30, in Carlos.
Kevin was born to Henry F Porter and Gwendolyn R. Washburn in Jackson County Missouri. Just as he did while serving in the U.S. Army, Kevin showed great strength and courage as he fought his battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Edwards.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Porter; daughters, Christy Porter and Misty Schiller; his brother, John R. Porter; sister Judy D. Willis; four granddaughters; nieces, nephews and friends who were blessed to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
