Marshall Bethel Obituary

September 20, 1919 – December 20, 2009

Marshall B. Bethel, 90, of Bryan passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2009, at Sherwood Healthcare Center.

Memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 27, at Hillier Funeral Home.

Marshall was born on September 20, 1919, in Houston to Marshall Sr. and Ethel May (Matthew) Bethel. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1941 with a bachelor's degree in engineering.

He worked for Dow Chemical for more than 30 years, retiring in 1974. After he retired to Hilltop Lakes, he enjoyed playing golf and watching the Aggie games.

He was a member of A&M United Methodist Church for many years, where he participated in the Bible study class.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Ethel Bethel; wife, Marjorie "Peg" Bethel; son, Wayne Bethel; and stepson, Larry Ireland.

Survivors include his son, Marshall "Skip" Bethel; stepdaughter-in-law, Vernell Ireland; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a step-grandson and wife, and a step-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to A&M United Methodist Church.
