Mary Helen was born August 26, 1943 in Mumford, Texas to Jesse and Paula Martinez, their first of six children. She later grew up in Mumford, Texas before her family moved to Bryan where she graduated from SFA High School in 1962. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Bryan.
Mary Helen was married to her high school sweetheart, Benny Cedillo, on February 23, 1963. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2013. Shortly after, in April 2013, Benny passed away from a long illness. Mary Helen was a devoted wife and mother whose hobbies included cooking, reading, playing games, watching baseball, and dancing before her illness caused a disability. She was most proud of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Even with a disability, Mary Helen never lost her positive spirit and faith in her Savior.
Mary Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Benny Cedillo; and her parents, Jesse and Paula Martinez.
She is survived by her children, Paul Cedillo and his wife Meg of Houston; Lori Bruffett and her husband Darryl of College Station; and Michael Cedillo and his wife Jennifer of Austin. She also leaves behind five precious grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Shelby Bruffett of College Station; and Alexander and John Cedillo of Houston. She was anticipating the birth of her sixth grandchild Isabel, due to arrive in November to Michael and Jennifer. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Jesse Martinez, Jr. of Bryan, Sharon Dotson of College Station, Artie Bridges of Bryan, Johnny Martinez of Bryan and Hilda Albin of Allen, Oklahoma.
The family also wishes to express gratitude and love to Mary Helen's sister-in-law, Agnes Cedillo of College Station for her care for both Benny and Mary Helen for the past four years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th Street, Bryan TX 77802.
