Mary Joyce Krebs Scamardo of Mumford, Texas passed away on June 11, 2025 at the age of 92.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM with a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 19 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 402 West 1st Street, Hearne, Texas 77859.

Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 20th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hearne. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Hearne.

Mary Joyce was born June 21, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky, and lived her early life at 2119 Alta Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky. She attended the St. James Parochial School and the Sacred Heart Academy High School graduating in 1950. After high school graduation, Mary Joyce attended Nazareth College (now known as Spalding University) graduating in May 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mary Joyce Krebs married Anthony Luke Scamardo November 6th 1954 at St. James Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky. She met Anthony on a blind date while he was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. This initial meeting resulted in a marriage that lasted over 69 years. After Mary Joyce and Anthony were married, they moved to the Brazos Bottom living near Mumford on Highway 50. Some of the things Mary Joyce loved in life: her faith in Jesus, her family, cooking delicious pasta meals for her family on Sunday and gardening. She also enjoyed supporting the Mumford school through volunteer activities and serving as a substitute teacher and as a home room mom.

Mary Joyce (Krebs) Scamardo is survived by her daughters; Mary Scamardo Marwil and husband Lindsay Marwil, Martha Scamardo Szydlowski and husband Mark Szydlowski; her sons; Anthony Luke Scamardo Jr. and wife Eileen Scamardo, Edward Dominic Scamardo and wife Tricia Scamardo, Luke Anthony Scamardo and wife Susan Scamardo. Mary Joyce is also survived by 15 grandchildren; Mark Marwil and wife Lindsey Marwil, Jessica How and husband Mark How, Scott Marwil and wife December Marwil, Luke Scamardo Jr. and wife Sarina Scamardo, Jennifer Scamardo, Sarah Szydlowski, Julianne Scamardo and husband John Kemper, Bethany Kasprowicz and husband Evan Kasprowicz, Nicholas Scamardo, Emily Maschue and husband David Maschue, Mary Katharyn Scamardo, Edward Scamardo Jr. and wife Danielle Scamardo, Amanda Scamardo, Sydney Scamardo, Allison Rose Scamardo; and 11 great grandchildren; Nolan Marwil, Clyde Marwil, Leroy Marwil, Pierce How, Sophie How, Kolbe Kasprowicz, Lacey Kasprowicz, Sadie Kasprowicz, Luke (Tres) Scamardo III, Brynlie Marwil, David (Augie) Maschue.

Mary Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Anthony L Scamardo, her father, Edward Dominic Krebs, her mother Phylys Bonn Krebs, her brothers John E. Krebs, Edward D. Krebs, Thomas G Krebs and her sisters Phylys Krebs Gerhard, Norma Krebs Yann.
