Mary Yawn Obituary

Mary (Hix) Yawn

Oct 23, 1959 - Jun 23, 2025

Age 65, of College Station, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, following a brave and hard-fought journey after receiving a double lung transplant. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Mary was born on October 23, 1959, in Tyler, Texas, but spent the majority of her early years in Bryan, Texas. She graduated from Bryan High School in 1977 and was the beloved daughter of Dr. Charles and Nell Hix.

A proud Aggie, Mary earned two degrees from Texas A&M University in 1983 and 1984. She made her home in College Station, Texas, where she also built a successful career as the owner of Appraisals by Yawn and Associates for the past 24 years.

On November 17, 1990, Mary married the love of her life, Lonnie Yawn, in College Station. Together, they shared a beautiful life full of adventure, laughter, and unwavering love.

Mary had a passion for horses, decorating, shopping, buying cars, and reorganizing-always with her unique flair and joyful spirit. But her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a deeply cherished "Grammy."

Mary is survived by her husband, Lonnie; her children, Kelly Langdon (Micah), Brian Yawn (Vannica), Colby Yawn (Megan), and Madison Huckabay (Jacob); her treasured grandchildren, Owen, Jordynn, Adler, Aiden, Sterling, Judge, and Jentry; and her sister, Karen Hester (Danny). Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Charles and Nell Hix; and her sister, Charlotte Snowden.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel – College Station. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., also at Memorial Funeral Chapel, followed by burial at Memorial Cemetery of College Station.

Mary's light and love touched many, and her memory will be forever treasured.

Mary was a beautiful adventurous, and funny lady. At a group lunch with friends, when Colby was about 6-8 months of age, she gave him the lemon from her tea. He absolutely loved it! He made the most gosh awful face, but kept chewing on it. Bless his heart, he really enjoyed that lemon. I was shocked and wiuld never have given a baby a lemon to chew on, even if he was wanting it. "Different strokes for different folks", she was always full of fun. May God bless your family as they pay tribute to herand carry on without her
