Mitchell MacGrady Obituary

Mitchell Charles MacGrady was an outgoing man dedicated to his family, friends and community.
Mr. MacGrady, a property manager and realtor, died in the early morning hours of Monday, October 8, 2007 from injures he sustained when he lost control of his motorcycle. He was 49.

Mr. MacGrady was born in Sidney, Mont., and moved to College Station with his family in his early teens. He lived in Austin for several years, working in the entertainment industry as a manager for several nightclubs. He returned to his "Texas hometown" in 1991 to pursue a career in real estate and be near his family.

Riding his beloved Harley was his passion. Whether it was a short trip to the next bike show, a charity toy run or a long scenic haul to another state, he enjoyed riding alone or with friends. He was well-respected and made friends easily. He wanted people to see him for who he was and wasn't really concerned with an "image." His philosophy of life was "take me as I am." He had tremendous wit, a wicked sense of humor and his friends and family were often caught between the two.

Mr. MacGrady is survived by his parents, Karmen and Gene Stevens of Bryan; three sisters, Roberta MacGrady of Glendive, Mont., Tracy Stevens of Las Vegas, Kolleen Sulik and husband, Pete, Sulik of College Station; niece, Laine Sulik; and nephew Travis Loy of Glendive, Mont.

At Mitch's request, there will not be a funeral. Instead, there will be a time for remembering and celebrating his life. A sunset service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, October 15 at Harvestfield Church at Yankee's Tavern in Carlos, Texas, off Hwy 30 at FM 244.

May your spirit be lifted on mighty wings of eagles.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to one of the following charities Mitch supported: Scotty's House or The Lake Loon Toy Run, c/o Citizen's Bank, P.O. Box 518, Somerville, Texas 77879.

I am very saddened to hear about the passing of Mitch. I never met him personally, but did business with him over the phone for years, with Brazosland. He was always such a nice guy---very sincere, very fair and very honest. I'm going to miss him. My heart goes out to his family and co-workers. I know they are going to miss him.

As family friends for decades, we have seen exhibited no greater and consistent love of family than that of mom and dad Stevens for their children. We have watched Mitch live life to its fullest measure, every day, because of this rare, steadfast love and teaching through all worldly challenges. May God continue to bless Gene, Karmen, and this family and give them strength, comfort and peace.

Not a day has gone by that I have not thought about you, Mitchell... I miss you so much. The song "When I get where I'm going" fits but it is really hard to not shed tears down here. Miss you, Gina

He is gone too soon and we will forever miss his brilliant smile, his quick wit, and, of course, his devastating good looks. It was impossible to stay in a bad mood around Mitch! We'll never forget him! May your wonderful memories of him lessen your sorrow and help heal your hearts. Our thoughts are with you all. . .

I will miss you completely, but take comfort knowing you are at peace and resting comfortably until we see each other again. Now instead of riding by the grace of God as His angels fly above, you are flying as one of them. I love you, Kolleen

I worked with Mitch for almost eight years at Brazosland. He may have said they were eight LONG years, since we always butted heads...HA! :) He was a great man and a great mentor. He gave really good advice (even when I didnt want to listen). I was happy to have chatted with him in these past recent months, and was glad to hear that he had been doing alot better in life. The last time I spoke with him was 3 days before God decided to take him away...and of course, that conversation ended with me laughing my butt off! He will be missed, but never forgotten. I'll see you up there when its my time, buddy.....

I have known Mitchell for 12 years now. He was a very special friend. I did make ready cleans for him and I always looked foward to seeing his smiling face and of course cutting up with him on how dirty some of the units were or laughing at his most recent comics taped to his door. I am so sorry to hear he is gone. There was no other like "Mr. MacGrady", that's what I called him. He got a kick out of that. I will miss him so much! GOD took another angel. Gina

I met Mitch about 24yrs ago. I worked with him at an Austin nightclub. Everyone loved Mitch, with those great big baby blues and beautiful smile. Mitch, you will be greatly missed by all of your extended Austin family. My sincere
heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family at this very sad time.
