Sheila Cagle Obituary

October 16, 1943 - May 26, 2011

Sheila Marion (MacDonald) Cagle died on Thursday May 26, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas with her son Adam by her side.

She was born in Edinburgh Scotland on October 16, 1943 to parents Roderick &Effie MacDonald. As a British Army brat, she saw much of Europe, Egypt, and the Far East. After finishing business school in London, Sheila traveled the world, entertaining in Australia, gun slinging in South Africa, and further studying in France and Spain.

While working back in London in the early 70's she met and married Carl Cagle, Oil Executive and U.S. Government liaison to the Middle East. Work and play led the couple to all corners of the earth, even after the birth of their only son Adam Roderick Cagle on October 10, 1975, living in Aberdeen Scotland, London, Lagos Nigeria, and eventually Corpus Christi Texas where Carl retired.

Carl became ill after retiring and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Sheila was by his side everyday for seven years from hospitals to nursing homes taking care of his every need selflessly. During the illness she was left with a hole that she filled with a return to higher education. In six years she acquired an Associates Degree from Del Mar College, a Bachelors degree and two Masters degrees in Psychology and Literature from Texas A&M Kingsville.

Sheila graduated Magna Cum Laude, made the National Dean's List, and became a lifetime member of the Phi Beta Kappa honors society. Upon the death of her husband she returned to Del Mar College, this time as a professor. Sheila was also compelled to get her license as a Professional Counselor in order to help others cope with death and loss.

After retiring, Sheila started a successful Jewelry business, was the best mother a son could ever ask for, and became mom to the amazing Paco and Diablo, her two Chihuahuas that passed away in 2006, and Mishka her beloved Pomeranian.

Sheila regrettably lost her husband Carl Cagle, and her dearest friend Nathan Brown during her life, and was survived by her only son, Adam R. Cagle and his fiancé, Natasha Peterson, and Adam's closest friend who was her son in all but name, Zander Vera.

By her wishes cremation of her mortal remains was completed and no services will be conducted. She will be missed and loved eternally.
