Tomas G. Ramirez
Mar 7, 1930 - Nov 3, 2025
Tomas G. Ramirez, lovingly known as Mr. Tom, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 95.
Mr. Tom was born on March 7, 1930, in Calvert, Texas, to Enrique and Francisca Ramirez. A proud Army veteran, he honorably served his country in the Korean War. He loved sharing stories from his time stationed in Germany.
In 1956, he married the love of his life, Sulema Landeros Ramirez, and together they raised their family in Bryan, Texas. Their marriage was a beautiful witness of faith, devotion, and love.
A devout Catholic, Mr. Tom was a dedicated member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church, where he served faithfully for many years. He was deeply involved in parish life - helping with church activities and Jamaicas, serving as an usher, leading as president of Santo Nombre, and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also gave generously of his time through his service with St. Vincent de Paul and the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), where he distributed food, including the well-remembered government cheese and peanut butter, to those in need.
Mr. Tom worked for many years at U-Totem, Central Texas Hardware, and Parker-Astin, where his strong work ethic and reliability earned the respect and friendship of the customers he served. He was the proud owner of Mr. Tom's Grocery, a beloved neighborhood store known for its hospitality and some of the best breakfast tacos in town. But beyond good food, the store was known for Mr. Tom's generosity. When customers couldn't afford basic necessities, he quietly kept a tab, trusting they'd pay when they could. And when it came time to close the store, he made sure every tab was marked paid in full. That's the kind of man he was - humble, kind, and always ready to help others.
He believed deeply in civic responsibility and stressed the importance of voting in every election, volunteering as a poll worker to help ensure that others could exercise their voice in our democracy.
He will be remembered for his deep faith, generous heart, sense of humor, and deep love for family, friends and everyone he met. He could often be found behind a camera, harmonica in hand, or with a great story to be told.
Mr. Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Sulema Ramirez, and his parents, Enrique and Francisca Ramirez. He is survived by seven children, Thomi Elmore (Glenn), Jesus Ramirez (Kim), Nora Martinez (Peter), Maria L. Ramirez, Tommy Ramirez, Jr., (Carolina), Dede Murff (Bennett) and Lisa Badillo (Richard). Additionally, Mr. Tom is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to Visiting Angels and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Santa Teresa Catholic Church.
Services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the church with a rosary recited at 1:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery in Bryan. A reception will follow at the St. Joseph Parish Activity Center (PAC).
