Vernon Schultz Obituary

September 27, 1931 – August 25, 2012

Vernon Lee Schultz, 80, of Bryan, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. The family will receive friends during visitation from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

A graveside ceremony celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2012 at Rest-Ever Memorial Park in Bryan. Glenn Newberry, Minister, will officiate.

Vernon was born in Normal, Illinois on September 27, 1931. He was in the United States Air Force for four years and was a jet mechanic. Vernon was a member of the American Legion Earl Graham Post 159. He was also a Meat Market Manager and a meat cutter until he retired.

Vernon married Fannie Mae Hobson at the Bryan Air Force Base Chapel in 1954. They lived in Orange County, California for 20 years before returning to Bryan in 1982. Vernon never met a stranger and loved his family, friends and neighbors. He also loved to play bingo.

Vernon was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Schultz, Jack Schultz, Jerry Schultz, and Corky Schultz.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie Mae Schultz; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Vernon and Maggie Schultz, of Burleson, Texas, Stephen Lee and Amy Schultz, of Midway, Georgia; daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca Lynn and Dan Migliazzo, of Templeton, California, Lisa Marie Ethel, of Rowlett, Texas; brother and sisters-in-law, Don and Shirley Schultz, of Apple Valley, California, Nancy Schultz, of Prescott, Arizona; sisters, Mary Holig, of Mauston, Wisconsin, Nancy Laughlin, of Crestline, California; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Foster's Home For Children, c/o Glenn Newberry, Minister, 1779 North Graham Street, Stephenville, Texas 76401.

Mrs. Schultz, Our sincere sympathy. Your husband fixed our lawnmowers for the better part of the last 15 years. He was a sweet & gentle man, & will be missed. If there is a need for a lawnmower repairman in Heaven, I'm sure that Vernon will be 'their man'! I'm sure that he is resting peacefully & painlessly in the arms of our Lord. God Bless.
