Wanda Lee Plotts, 79, passed away peacefully Monday morning April 3, 2023, at her home in Bryan, Texas.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Services will be Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor William Plotts officiating. Burial will be at Willow Hole Cemetery in North Zulch, Texas.

Wanda was born July 9, 1943, in Troup, Texas to Jewel (Hayes) Bone and S. L. Bone. She grew up in East Texas. She was the fourth child of six, the first born in Texas after the family moved from Arkansas. Her father worked for the Sinclair Oil Company for many years and they lived in various towns where he served as a deacon and song leader at a number of Baptist churches, where she would often play the piano.

When the family moved to Madisonville she met Peter Plotts with whom she later enjoyed a loving marriage of over fifty years. They had four sons followed by nine grandchildren. They lived in Beaumont, Texas for many years where Peter had a successful career starting two companies and working as a Vice President for Barnes and Noble. In 1989 they moved to the family farm in Normangee, Texas, where they enjoyed life together and spending time with their grandchildren who came from many different backgrounds and places due to the travels of their sons. When advanced Parkinson's disease overtook Peter they moved to Bryan, Texas where she cared for the love of her life until he passed away in 2014. She spent her remaining years enjoying her family, grandchildren, and her dog, "Tommy Boy."

Wanda was a marvelous story teller with a delightful, wry sense of humor. She enjoyed Doris Day movies, playing the piano, visiting with her sisters, and working crossword puzzles. Most notable among her many talents was her striking sense of style and design as well as her ingenuity. She loved coming up with and making clever "life hacks" and loved sharing them with her friends and family.

Wanda was a devout Christian who made a profession of faith as a young girl at Second Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas where she would be baptized by the same pastor who also baptized her future husband. With courage and dignity, she faced the end of her life knowing where she was going and that her faith was in Christ. She was surrounded by her family at the very end and was peacefully reunited with her husband.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her two brothers; and one stillborn son. She is survived by her four sons, Peter Plotts III of College Station, Brian Plotts and his wife, Alma of Houston, Fredrick Plotts and his wife, Mari of Osaka, Japan, and William Isaac Plotts and his wife, Rebecca of Bryan; three sisters, Ella Walker, Dena Rhodes, and Janell Noble; and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Tommy Boy.
