William Darrell Hollis of College Station, Texas, passed from this life at home, Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 89, after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure. Darrell was born on December 16, 1931 in Houston, Texas to William Claude Hollis and Althea Rodgers Hollis. He was the youngest of their three sons. He was raised in the Baptist Church and he has been a Christian since he was 9 years old.

Darrell grew up in Houston and graduated from Galena Park High School and attended Baylor University and the University of Houston, studying History. He and his parents moved to Madisonville, Texas, where he met his wife of 69 years, Annette Hicks. They married in 1951. Shortly after marriage, Darrell joined the Air Force and served in South Dakota, Illinois and overseas in England. After he was discharged in 1955, he went to work for Shell Oil Company, where he worked until retirement. In 1990 he and Annette moved to College Station. In his leisure time he loved playing 42, working in his garden and being at their Madisonville farm raising his cattle.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Annette; his daughters, D'Ann Scamardo and her husband Joe Alan Scamardo, and Lori Brandes and her husband James Brandes. He has five grandchildren; Mike Scamardo, Andy Scamardo and his wife Jenny, Matt Scamardo, Bradley Brandes and his wife Rachel, and Madison Brandes. He also has two great grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Scamardo. He was loved and will be missed by all.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 5th at 2:00 PM at Oxford Cemetery, 7262 Oxford Cemetery Road, Madisonville, Texas 77864.
