Willie Pearl Erna (Bruckner) Kiser, 93, went to be with her Lord on March 8, 2016, surrounded by her family at the Lampstand Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan, Texas. Services were held at 2:30 pm on Friday, March 11, at Englunds Funeral Chapel in Slaton, Texas.
Willie Pearl was born to William Jacob and Erna Dreyer Bruckner in Lynn County near Wilson, Texas. Pearl's family were farmers. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1942 and worked for the Southwestern Associated Telephone Company in Lubbock. She married Kay on May 31, 1944, in Wilson, Tex. They made their first home in Wilson, and she was employed at the Wilson State Bank. When they moved to Lubbock, she worked in the USDA cotton classing office. The Kisers later lived in Shallowater, Texas, where Kay was Justice of the Peace and City Secretary. In the mid-1960s, they moved to Slaton, Texas where Pearl was a homemaker and bookkeeper in The Kiser Agency, the family insurance, bookkeeping and tax firm. In the mid-1990s Pearl moved to Bryan, Texas, to be near her daughter and grandchildren.
Pearl enjoyed oil painting, especially of rural Texas scenes. She was active in the Bryan-College Station Newcomers Club, Loners on Wheels RV Club, and A&M United Methodist Church. She enjoyed travel, playing games, dancing, and being with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Oliver William Bruckner; sister, Irene Foster-Balch, and husband Derwood Belmont "Kay" Kiser.
Survivors include her daughter, Marchita "Keta" Jones and her husband David of College Station, Texas; grandson, Michael Jones of Bryan, Texas; grandson, Mark Jones and his wife Melody of Bryan; great-grandson, Jeffery Jones of New Caney, Texas; and nephew, Nathan Hinz and his wife Ellen of Santa Fe, N.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th St., Bryan, TX 77803.
