Barbara Knous Obituary

Barbara Knous passed away peacefully at home on Thursday June 19, 2025, but not until after her "stories", The Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful, were over.
Barb was the daughter of Raymond & Louise Arnold, who preceded her in death, along with her brother, Scott Arnold.
On May 13, 1961, She married the love of her life, Thomas Dale Knous, even after she swore she'd never marry anyone named Tom and certainly would never name a kid after Tom!-they were married 51 years before Tom passed away on Dec. 27, 2012.
Tom & Barb had two children, Thomas (Tom) Dale, Jr. & Christine (Chris).
Barb is survived by her son Tom & daughter-in-law Ruth, daughter Christine (Knous) Kuenning & son-in-law Travis. Four grandchildren- Thomas Dale (Tom) Knous, III, & wife Britney, Tyson Darl Knous & wife Amber, Natalie (The favorite!) Kuenning & Aaron Alexander, and Travis (Bo) Kuenning. Four Great Granddaughters - Haley, Riley, Presley, & Berkley. She is also survived by her brother Ed Arnold, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Barb & Tom owned and operated The Carpetman in St. Marys until their retirement. Barb was known for her quick wit & even quicker temper and was known for being able to cancel Christmas when Tom (any one of them) made her mad or scheduled a party at your house. She was also a pretty good aim with a pie (according to Tom).
She loved to dance and was known to cut a rug when Tom's band was playing somewhere in the area. She was an avid fan of her "stories", mostly The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, Lifetime movies, and HGTV (although it only made her want to sea-foam rip out perfectly good kitchens just to replace them with another perfectly good one. For some unknown reason, she was deathly afraid of cats and always had a loaded" squirt gun" at the ready in case one of those "sneaky" cats made the mistake of entering her yard.
She was the President of the VFW Baton and Drum Corp for several years, and was so dedicated to it that she actually skipped her one and only chance to see Elvis in concert.
She also had an unhealthy obsession with McDonalds Mocha Frappuccino, and her family was all too happy to make sure she had one whenever the mood struck. She was a collector (or hoarder, take your pick) of cheap burial wreaths that lined her garage walls. After the weekly garbage can debacle and knocking them off the walls, Ruth threatened to bury her with them. Barb's response was that she'd then have ALL the holidays covered once she gets to heaven. In addition to hoarding plastic door wreaths, she also had a "healthy" collection of cement goose outfits for Lucy Goosy- and Barb loved having her youngest great granddaughter, Berkley, change Lucy's outfits regularly. It was a highlight of both of their days.
She loved her family fiercely - and they loved her more.
A private family funeral will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery on Monday, June 23.
Condolences can be sent to Miller Funeral Home via MillerFuneralHomes.net, or the family. In lieu of flowers, have a Mocha Frappuccino and smile.
