Leo Leslie O’Dowd Obituary
He was born on Dec. 2, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Edmund and Christine (Forrest) O'Dowd.
Leo was a member of the VFW, American Legion and was a union pipefitter and belonged to UA Local 469. He traveled to different cities to keep up his trade. That is how he met the love of his life, Monica Maria Oen. They met at Grand Lake St. Marys on July 23, 1968, and were married on Nov. 29, 1968. They just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year, and Monica survives at Auglaize Acres.
Leo is also survived by his children Robert (Page Spurling) O'Dowd and Leslie O'Dowd. He loved his children and six grandchildren: Ashleigh, Abigail, Allyson O'Dowd, Tristan, Christine, and Neal Chaudhry.
He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Pierce, Margaret Marr and Michael (Julie) O'Dowd, and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Patrick (Lotus) O'Dowd, Paxton Marr (brother-in-law), Wayne Pierce (brother-in-law), Cecile (John) Tilger, and by his son, Daniel O'Dowd.
Leo was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a paratrooper and howitzer cannon operator in the Korean War from 1950-53.
Leo was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Glynwood, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte and the Rev. Joe Brown, con-celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys.
