Owen Gilbert Obituary

Owen F. Gilbert, 82, of St. Marys, died at 7:48 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2021 at his residence.
He was born June 30, 1939 in New York, New York.
Survivors include: son Allan (Nikki) Gilbert of St. Marys; daughter Rosealee (Jason Suchland) Gilbert of St. Marys; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and brothers Fred (Esther) HGilbert of Berne, Indiana and Mahlon (Cathy) Gilbert of Columbia, Connecticut.
Preceded in death by: adoptive parents Harry and Alberta (Alverda) Gilbert; son Rick Brandenburg; close companion Marge Andrews and former wife Velma Ralston
He was a graduate of New Bremen High School (Class of 1959).
Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He worked as a tow motor operator for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys for many years.
Owen will be remembered and an extremely intelligent, hard-working man. An avid gun collector, he also enjoyed discussing politics and military history.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St. in St. Marys.
Military funeral honors will be conducted at the funeral home, following the services.
Visitation is 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
