Ronald Etter

1952 - 2017

Ronald E. Etter, 64, of Ashley, succumbed to cancer on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, after fighting a two-year battle.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1952, in Lima to the late Gordon E. and Lillian (Moore) Etter. A graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School in 1970, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the College of Wooster.
He married his high school sweetheart, Roslyn "Rose" (Hierholzer) in 1975. The couple shared nearly 50 wonderful years together, almost 42 of them as husband and wife, making a life together and raising their three children on a farm north of Ashley.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Andrew (Ashley) Etter of Columbus, Rachel Etter of Dublin, Leslie (Michael) Williams of Powell; treasured granddaughters, Cecelia and Charlotte Williams; brothers, Tom (Joan) of Grandview, Bob (Kim) of Dayton, Jon (Sharon) of Grandview, Roger (Evey) of Delaware and Dana (Gloria) Etter of Michigan; nieces, nephews and friends, including best friend and fishing buddy, Page Smith.
A gifted writer and creative mind, he worked as a copywriter and a producer in the field of advertising. Ron began with the advertising agency of Kight Cowman Abram Advertising and spent the majority of his career with Lord Sullivan & Yoder. 
Most recently, he worked as a senior copywriter with GSW inVentiv Health. 
Ron was a dedicated employee who thoroughly enjoyed his work, making many cherished friends and receiving numerous accolades, including several ADDY awards, along the way.
Above all else, Ron was devoted to his family. He made it a point to attend every practice, event and activity of his children. 
Family vacations spent at the Outer Banks were the highlight of his summers. He possessed a large collection of vinyl records and connected with his family through his passion for music. 
Ron also enjoyed sports, particularly the soccer events of his children, and fishing with his friends on Ara Lake in Canada. 
He was a loyal friend, wonderful husband, adoring father, doting grandfather and, put simply, "an all-around good guy."
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at West William Street, Delaware, where services celebrating Ron's life will follow at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Cancer research organizations, to Kindred Hospice or to Pelotonia.
