Thomas Roten Obituary

FRANKLIN - Thomas "Tommy" Edgar Roten, 83, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023.
Born on Easter Sunday in Macon County, with six inches of snow on the ground, he was the son of the late Elmer Edgar and Ira Edna Holbrook Roten. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Patsy Henderson, Kathryn Cruse, Martha Schulties, Jane Ledford, Mary Sue Murray and Maxine McClure.
Tommy loved bear hunting and was an avid supporter of Franklin High School Athletics. He went to every home game for many years. Tommy helped the athletic program by building trophy cases in the gym, building lockers in field house, painting, and doing whatever he could to help. He was a Franklin Panther for life.
Tommy is survived by his sons, Eric Roten and Chad Roten, both of Franklin; granddaughter, Kaylee Brooke Roten of Franklin; brother, Bill Roten of Franklin; sister, Linda Griffen of Wadkinsville, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made the Franklin High School Athletics Department in memory of Tommy Roten.
