Barbara Rowley

BARBARA ROWLEY Fayette Barbara Rowley, 80, of Fayette, died at home on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019. A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. and celebration of life at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4 at the United Methodist Church, 207 E. Clark St., Fayette, Iowa. A luncheon will be provided following the service. Barb will be interned at Lima Church Cemetery at a later date. Barbara is survived by her husband, Keith Rowley; children, Lori (Shawn) LaCarte, Todd (Richard) Rowley and Keith (Jana) Rowley; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis McEnroe and Gordon Mullin; sister, Dixie Waters; and parents, Ivan and Luella Mullin. Barbara was born on Dec. 12, 1938. Barb and Keith were high school sweethearts and were united in marriage on July 19, 1958. Barb earned her degree at the Iowa's Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Barb was one of the first Head Start teachers in the state. She also taught at Cedar Heights Elementary School and preschool in Epworth. Barb later worked in food service at Upper Iowa University. She began her role as the activities director at Maple Crest Manor in the mid-1970s and retired in June of 1999. Barb enjoyed her many friends and service groups. She also loved spending sunny days on the river fishing with Keith. Memorials may be made to the Grace Meyer Memorial Scholarship or Fayette Public Library.
