Darrell Timm Obituary

DARRELL L. TIMM Marion Darrell L. Timm, 91, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at the Solon Care Center. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Becky High. Burial will follow at Springville Cemetery in Springville with military honors provided by Springville American Legion Post No. 331 and Iowa Military Funeral Honors. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Darrell, under "photos and videos or media," starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6. Darrell was born July 23, 1929, in Lost Nation, Iowa, the son of Lester and Bertha (Wiedenhoff) Timm. He attended country school. At a young age, he started helping farmers in the area and farming with his parents. Darrell was then drafted into the United States Army. Upon returning home, he began farming in the Marion and Springville area and on Nov. 27, 1955, in Springville, Darrell was united in marriage to Donna Coons. Together they farmed for 40 years. During these years, he raised hogs, dairy and beef cattle, as well as row crops. He was a member of the Linn County Farm Bureau, the Linn County Pork Producers, Linn County Beef Producers, the American Legion Post No. 331 in Springville and Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church. Darrell will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Luann (Mark) Pisarik of Solon, Iowa, Karen (Neal) Megchelsen of Ainsworth, Iowa, and John (Joanne) Timm of Monticello, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Peter (Katrina) Pisarik, Paul Pisarik, Rachel (Zach) Carstensen, Renee Megchelsen, Trent Megchelsen, Kaitlyn (Greg) Smith, Zach Timm, Gavin Timm and Austin Timm; four great-grandchildren, Kase, Oliver, and Lily Carstensen, Baylee Smith, and one on the way; brother, Merlyn (Helen) Timm of Tipton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Patsy (Gary) Gray of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Larry (Shirley) Coons of Anamosa, Iowa, Jackie (Chuck) Betzer of Hazel Green, Wis., Bill (Sharon) Coons of Springville, Iowa, Dorothy Coons of Canton, Minn., and Julia Coons of Marion; and many nieces and nephews. Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Timm; his parents; son at infancy, Gregory Timm; Donna's parents, Donald and Mary Coons; and brothers-in-law, Bob Coons and Randy Coons. Memorials in Darrell's memory may be directed to the family to be designated later. The family would like to thank the staff at the Solon Nursing Home and Iowa City Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Darrell.
