Donald Bashus Obituary

Donald "Don" Bashus, 72, of Fairfax, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at his home. A celebration of Don's life will be held at a later date. Don was born April 6, 1952, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, the son of LeRoy and Joanne (Underwood) Bashus. He graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the Class of 1970. Don served honorably in the United States Navy from 1973-79. He worked for Duncan Aviation in Nebraska before relocating to Iowa, where he dedicated 12 years to Collins Aerospace, retiring in 2019. Don was united in marriage to Kathy "Kat" Steele on May 5, 2001, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Survivors include his children, Ryan (Emily) Bashus of Marion, Iowa, Eric (Kalina) Bashus of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Neil Bashus (Krissi Casper) of Friend, Nebraska; four grandchildren; and siblings, Kim (Tom) Gernert of Newhawka, Nebraska, Steve (Penny) Bashus, Greg (Chris) Bashus, and Dan Bashus, all of Plattsmouth. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Joanne Bashus; his first wife, Colleen Bashus; and his second wife, Kat Bashus.
