DONALD PAUL NOWOTNY JR. Chicago Donald Paul Nowotny Jr., 75, of Chicago, formerly of Victor, Iowa, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021. Donald was the son of Donald Paul and Catherine Helen (nee Reitzler) Nowotny. B.S., Landscape Architecture, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa; M.B.A., Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. Served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and worked in landscape architecture before being the 46th Ward Superintendent, City of Chicago, Department of Streets and Sanitation. Beloved spouse of Carl Wayne McDowell, Chicago; dear uncle of Kevin (Angela) Shepherd of Phoenix, Ariz., Karl (Cindi) Shepherd of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kerry (Therese) Shepherd of Chandler, Ariz., Kathy Shepherd (Kevin) Nanke of Edmond, Okla., and Kelcy (Davin Flatten) Shepherd of Shrewsbury, Mass.; granduncle of five; great-granduncle of three; former spouse of Linda Augustine Nowotny of Victor, Iowa; and brothers-in-law of Thomas (Judy) Shepherd of Atkins, Iowa, and Richard (Shirley) Cole of Victor, Iowa. Preceded in death by parents and sisters, Dona Catherine Nowatny, Judith Ann Nowotny Shepherd and JoAnn Marie Nowotny Cole. Services are pending in Victor, Iowa.
