Dylan Vascik Obituary

Dylan Eli Vascik, 46, currently of Springville Iowa, died Feb. 7, 2023, when his vehicle was struck by a drunk driver. Dylan was born April 10, 1976, in Urbana, Ill., to Robert "Bob" and Michele "Shellie" (Daniels) Vascik. Dylan's youth had him moving around to multiple places, a "military brat" as he put it. He lived in Washington State and Ohio as well as spending several summers in California with family on their farm. Dylan was the charter fire chief for Rossford Fire Explorer Post which was a Post founded by his father and Uncle Rick. Dylan was also a firefighter in Washington State gaining high school credits for his service. Dylan moved to Iowa with his family his senior year of high School graduating from WACO High School in Wayland Iowa in 1995. Dylan has been a hunting, fishing, gun and motorcycle enthusiast for many years and has touched many lives through these hobbies and passions. Dylan met his wife to be through a blind date set up by his father who worked with her at the UIHC. Dylan and Bridgette dated for four years, and got married Oct. 13, 2007. They rode motorcycles together with their friends and family, joining Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA), "Spirit and Truth" for some years independent for more and currently is patched with "Chapter O" Soldiers for Christ MM. Their daughters Hannah (12) and Jasmyn (10) ride with them as well. Dylan was an amazing fiberglass man with Surface Specialists of Cedar Rapids and Seamus Tubs plus tackling many other custom projects, Big Rigs to Bikes and more. Glassing was a passion he was introduced to by his grandfather "Fiberglass George." Dylan was a loving, supportive and dependable husband, father, son, cousin and friend. From bike rides, to barbecue, working on guns, motorcycles or rebuilding his antique fire truck. Dylan even had his own "fat man good food happy dance" when something he made came off the smoker that he "didn't get fired for". Dylan seldom gave himself credit for how great a cook he was, he never considered himself a great man or recognized how much he was loved, true humility, Dylan will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Bridgette (Ham) Vascik; their daughters, Hannah and Jasmyn; his parents, Bob and Shellie Vascik of Iowa City; brother, Dan Vascik and wife Trish, their daughters, Faith and Jenna, all of Chicago; as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and numerous friends that are considered family and more. Dylan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Marie Vascik, Jackie Reed and George Daniels; his uncle, Rick Vascik; and cousin, Damiene Millard (Hansen). A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church in Washington Iowa on Feb. 18. The family will be present to receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday with the memorial service starting at 10:15 a.m. Following services, there will be a get together hoorah lunch at the church and then a ride down to Oakland Mills cemetery outside of Mount Pleasant for the interment, road conditions permitting. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent for Dylan's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
