FAYE ELIZABETH GILLESPIE Cedar Rapids Faye Elizabeth Gillespie, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 26, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: noon Thursday, Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service. Faye is survived by her husband of 24 years, Jeff; children, Eric Jeffries of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Gillespie of Pella, Laura (Lance) Johnston and Brandy Gillespie, both of Eddyville, and James (Kinzy) Gillespie of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; sister, Kala Hill of Ames; brothers, Joel (Colleen) Jeffries of Chicago and Lyle (Karla) Jeffries of Polk City; mother-in-law, Pat Landt of Cedar Rapids, whom she shared a special bond with; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and her dogs, Polly and Peaches. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jason Jeffries; and brother-in-law, Kenton Hill. Faye was born Oct. 31, 1960, in Madison, S.D., the daughter of Jack and Ruth (Conner) Jeffries. She graduated in 1979 from Vinton High School and received a LPN degree from Kirkwood. Faye worked as a nurse for the Views and West Ridge Care Center for several years. On July 20, 1997, she married Jeffrey Gillespie in his mother's backyard in Center Point. Faye enjoyed walking her dogs, looking at Cavachon websites and playing slots on the computer. She played pool and golf in her younger years and was given the nickname "Par" Faye. She was a fan of the Chicago Bears and of Walter Peyton, and of NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace. Faye loved being with her family and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Memorials may be directed to the family or the Animal Rescue League. She will be missed. I remember her babysitting me when I was 3 and we had to go to the store it was winter in Minnesota and her car didn't want to run. We had her dog Rosey with. Faye patted the dash of her car saying come on baby, and Rosey came up to the front seat and kissed her and me..

We had many good times together. Always had a smile on her face and we laughed alot. My favorite memory was when she drove backwards through the McDonald's drive thru trying to catch someone. I will miss her much. My condolences to Jeff, Eric and the rest of her family.

Jeff, Eric, and family - We are heart broken for you all. Such comfort knowing that Faye is now at peace ♥.

Eric we have so many amazing memories of our times together when you and Danyah were younger. Having such a close friendship with Faye at a time when we both were experiencing life’s wonderful surprises was such a blessing. Remember when the four of us went to the creek in Sedona AZ and locked ourselves out of the car? Your mom always knew how to turn a stressful time into a light situation. I can still hear her laughter and see that beautiful smile ❤. So many fun Halloween Birthdays in costume. Playing together in pool league and living together as roommates - I loved that girl with all my heart.

We are sending love and prayer to you all. Celebrating Faye and all the love she put into the world from afar.
