Jason Matus Obituary

Jason Matus, 48, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, in his home. Jason was born Sept. 26, 1975, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Edward John (Guy) Matus ll and Donna Jean Warren. Jason graduated from Denison Job Corps Center in 1993. Over the years, he was employed at various warehouse jobs, installed car audio systems and hosted karaoke. Jason was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, fishing and bonfires. When he was not enjoying the outdoors, you could find him playing pool, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes or spending time with family and friends who became like family to him. Those remembering him are his children Tyler of Anamosa, Iowa, Chase of Ames, Iowa, Brayden of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lindsey of Eagan, Minn., and their mother; former wife Jaime (Merrill) Matus, and children Zachary and Hailey Jensen; brother Brian (Janetta) Matus of Bucyrus, Mo.; and grandparents Robert (Ruby) Warren of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jason is also remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece, nephews, great-nephew and close friends. Jason was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Edward and Rose Matus. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at Hiawatha American Legion from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All are welcome to come reflect Jason's life.
