Joey Lee Loftsgard

Joey Lee Loftsgard, 43, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Visitation: 4 â€" 8 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2024, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the funeral home. Joey was born November 16, 1980, in Postville, Iowa, the son of Roger and Joni (Butikofer) Loftsgard. He graduated from Valley High School in Clermont, Iowa in 1999 and received his B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa. On November 16, 2019, Joey was united in marriage to the love of his life, Crystal Sokol Gray, at the Cedar Ridge Winery in Swisher, Iowa. His #1 priority was taking care of everyone around him. Joey was a supportive role model to his children, Parker and Camdyn. He enjoyed taking long walks with his doodle, Kona, and cheering for the Hawkeyes, Cubs, and Packers. Joey enjoyed traveling and exploring new places but always made it home for the kid's sporting events. He never met a stranger. Joey will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Crystal Loftsgard of Hiawatha; children, Parker and Camdyn Gray; doodle, Kona; parents, Roger and Joni Loftsgard of Clermont; brother, Jeremy "Frog" Loftsgard of Clermont; brother-in-law, Brian (Cassie) Sokol of Toledo, Iowa; nephews, Keidyn and Austin Sokol of Toledo; sister-in-law, Beca Sokol (fiancé, Caleb) of Cedar Falls; mother-in-law, Polly Sokol of Toledo; father-in-law, Dave Sokol of Toledo; grandmother, Norma Butikofer; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Joey was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Lois Loftsgard, maternal grandfather, William Butikofer; uncle, Michael Butikofer; and his dog, Nicky.
