John Edward Castelein, 59 of Fairfax, died Saturday, March 4, 2023. Services will be a joint service with his father, Edward Castelein, at Murdoch Linwood on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 3 to 5 p.m. Burial: Leon Methodist Cemetery in Prophets Township, Ill. Teahen Funeral Home is caring for John and his family. John is survived by his mother, Kay Castelein of Marion; and brother, Christopher (Dj) and their children, Sophia and Owen Castelein of Hiawatha. John was preceded in death by his father, Edward Castelein. John Edward Castelein was born on Feb. 10, 1964, in San Jose, Calif., the son of Edward Louise and Kay Frances (Corcoran) Castelein. John, you were my first nephew. You were such a bright, cute little guy when I flew to California to meet you for the first time. You went on in life to earn a Master's degree at the University of Iowa (computer programming) and demonstrated your intelligence in so many other ways. You had a kind heart. You were a good person. I am so sorry that you left this life much too soon. May you rest in peace.
