June Meyer

June Meyer, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024. Per her wishes, she will be buried with her husband in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. There will be no services. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. June was born on April 21, 1932, in Middlesbrough, England, to William and Olive Pinkney. In 1952, she embarked on an adventure that would change her life. She immigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she quickly fell in love with the natural beauty of the region. June explored the vast landscapes of Utah and Monument Valley delivering crates of oranges to Native Americans. June also discovered skiing in Alta and passed that passion on to her children. In Salt Lake City, June met Ward A. Meyer at a dance, and the two shared an instant connection. They were married on March 19, 1955, beginning a life of adventure. Ward, a dedicated member of the United States Air Force, went on to become a command pilot. Throughout their life together, June supported Ward's career as they moved around the United States and Europe. June held the family together when Ward flew a gunship during the Vietnam war. They retired to Fort Collins, Colorado. After Ward's passing, June moved to Cedar Rapids, where she continued to live life to the fullest. She enjoyed being a member of the Rockwell Collins Recreation Center and traveled with friends through the FSB Connect Club, creating cherished memories and great friendships. June was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her son, David (Joan) Meyer, and her daughter, Karen (Stephen) Meyer; grandsons, Bill (Rebecca) Meyer and Eric (Amy) Meyer; great-granddaughter, Mia Meyer, and great-grandson, Henry Meyer. She is preceded in death by her husband Ward; parents, William and Olive Pinkney; her brother, Eric Pinkney, and her sister, Linda Hirst. June will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
