Mary Pamela Kane

Mary Pamela (Long) Kane, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died March 29, 2023. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with rosary at 3 p.m. Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, followed by burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Pam, the most loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother is survived by her husband, Michial, who held her hand for 60 years; her children, Michial (Lisa) and the mother of his children, Dawn and Amy; Matthew (Cathi), Melissa (Matt), David (Michelle) and Mark (Jon); special nephew, David (Lesa) Aler; siblings, Joan, Diane, Cindy, Pat, Carol, Debbie, John, Lisa and Mike; grandchildren, Brittney, Zach, Josh, Jacqueline, Alex, Julia, Cierra, Keegan, Kelsey and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Mia, Kane, Aniston, Kynlee, Beckham and Knox, with one on the way. Her beloved charges Emily and Jacob Bartels. She was born to Dudley and Mary Long on Jan. 15, 1943. It has been said that traveling through life is like sailing on an ocean. When the sky is clear and the water is calm the voyage is without care. However, when the skies are dark and seas are troubled, we need a star to guide us. For 60 years that star has been you. Your countless acts of quiet heroism be it a word of encouragement, an understanding, sympathetic ear, untold hours to find just the right gift to cheer, the thousands of hours spent to make sure that occasions and holidays are memorable or just always being you without reservation even when you are beyond tired you have been a true example of love and giving. We remember! Heroes deserve recognition. This poem is a testament to your sacrifice, dedication, caring and love. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, David, Richard and Bob; her sister, Sue; her sister-in-law, Janet Aler; and brother-in-law, Darryl Aler.
