I just learned of Mike’s passing. Condolences to his family.
Mike took a chance and gave me my first job after graduating college in 1988. I will always feel indebted to him for that amazing opportunity at what was then Erbs Business Machines. He truly kickstarted my professional career.
We always had some great laughs during work and at Iowa Hawkeye football tailgates. Fun fact: he sold me his old used set of Ping Eye golf clubs, and I still use them today more than 30 years later.

Mike could light up a room like no other. Even when we didn't exactly agree on something, he could always make me smile just by looking at me. Mike loved his friends, but nothing compared to his love for MaryBeth, Amanda and Maggie, and his beautiful granddaughters.
I'll never forget our times together, both as friends and when we did business together. When it seems like I'm having a bad day, I'll just visualize Mike running around in his singlet, or wrestling with his riding lawn mower, or maybe even playing Spiderman with his garage door. At any rate, he'll put a smile on my face.
RIP Brogan, you got there first so save me a spot and drinks are on you!

I was sad to learn of Mike's passing. I feel honored to have known him and worked with him as a community research partner in the Extramural Discovery Science department at the American Cancer Society. He provided such valued perspective as a cancer patient and survivor. I appreciated his sage advice, careful listening, and thoughtful discernment during our peer review process. Mike has left an amazing legacy from his services across the American Cancer Society and for that we are immensely grateful. In June, the Cancer Cell Biology committee will be meeting in Atlanta. There will be an empty seat at the table, heavy hearts, and a moment of silence in memory of Mike.
with heartful condolences,
Lynne Elmore

I first met Mike when we had lockers next to each other at the downtown YMCA. I played golf with Mike and the Erb’s boys including, Kevin Torner, John Carstensen, Bart Gibney at the first few Marion Chamber of Commerce golf outings. Mike and Mary Beth were tax clients for a number of years and I always enjoyed being around Mike. He was a really good person and my thoughts and prayers go out to Mary Beth and your entire family.

Mike was always impressed me as “larger than life” in meetings and conversations. He was a friendly fellow with an easy smile and extraordinary eye contact.

I was always “lifted”in our interactions and admired his spirit in battling cancer.

May all the Angels, Saints, Holy men and Holy women welcome him into God’s eternal Grace.

May God hold you, Mary Beth and family. Mike was one-of-a-kind and I loved his bit o' the Irish twinkle of the eye, sense of humor and the way he made me feel good about the world. May he rest in peace.
