Brett Edmond Hawkins

Newburgh, IN - Brett Edmond Hawkins, age 35, of Newburgh, Indiana, formerly of Princeton passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021, in single vehicle accident.

Brett was born on July 17,1985 in Princeton, KY to his parents, Robert Edmond "Eddy" Hawkins, II and Rhonda Hobby Hawkins. He graduated from Caldwell County High School in the Class of 2004 where he played basketball, shortstop for the baseball team and quarterback for football team. He continued his athletic career playing baseball at Brescia University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2008. Later in 2017, he also earned his Master's Degree in Elementary Education from West Kentucky University. Brett taught Physical Education and Computer Science for Grades 6-12 for Central Academy in Henderson County. Brett assistant coached football at Daviess County High School from 2009-2010. More recently, he coached his daughter's 6U, 8U and 10U girls softball teams in the Newburgh Girls Softball League. Brett loved the Minnesota Vikings and managed a car detailing business on the side. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Princeton and attended Crossroads Christian Church in Newburgh.

He is survived by his parents, Robert Edmond "Eddy" Hawkins, II and Rhonda Hobby Hawkins of Princeton; one daughter, Adalyn "Ady" Hawkins of Newburgh; one son, Colton Lee Hawkins of Owensboro; maternal grandmother, Barbara Oliver Hobby of Princeton; two uncles, Ronnie (Phyllis) Ladd of Princeton, Mike (Pam) Hobby of Princeton.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bill Hobby; paternal grandparents, Robert E. "Bob" and Mary Audrey Hawkins.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Morgan's Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Morgan's Funeral Home with Bro. David Brown officiating assisted by Wesley Dunn and Wesley Curtis. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

I am one of brett hawkins student's and i jus wanted to sy he was an amazing man but us students didn't jus see him as a teacher we seen him as family and our best friend...i would always wanna go to school just to see him and right after i heard what happened i started tearing up, i mean we all did.well all i wanted to say is im very sorry for ur loss and we all love Mr.Hawkins very much he may be gone but he's not forgotten that's for sure.
