Anita Louise Hurd

Hurd, Anita Louise (Shawmeker) 76, of Shepherdsville, KY, formally of Joliet, IL, left this life on November 15, 2013. Mrs. Hurd was a homemaker and a faithful member of Christian Assembly Church where she was able to share her love of music in the Senior Ladies Choir. She was preceded in death by an infant son, William Norman; her parents, James and Helen Shawmeker and a brother, Jack Shawmeker. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Bill Hurd; 7 children, Beverly (Bob) Carrington, Marissa (Dan) Long, Randy (Anne) Hurd, Valerie (Jeff) Hazelip, David (Renee) Hurd, John Hurd, Jim (Lisa) Hurd; a brother, Jim (Valerie) Shawmeker; 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Assembly Church (9020 Stonestreet Rd) with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will also be held both Monday and Tuesday, November 18-19, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). www.newcomerkentuckiana.com
