Daniel J. Malloy, age 74, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, July 1, 2023.
Born May 4, 1949, in Joliet, IL. Daniel graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. He earned his bachelor's degree at Aurora University and master's degree at Northern Illinois University and University of Illinois Chicago. Daniel earned his Educational Administration Certificate from Governor's State University.
He began his educational career at Trinity School. He served as principal and director of day treatment program at the Guardian Angel Home in Joliet. Daniel designed and taught an at-risk program at Reed Custer High School. Daniel served as the program coordinator for the Lincoln-Way special education program. He spent the next twenty years at Troy District 30C. He was the assistant principal at Troy Junior High School and the principal of Troy Shorewood Elementary School. Daniel retired after 42 years in a great business that he loved dearly.
In retirement Daniel was a devoted caregiver to his mother in Shorewood. He was a 2012 graduate of the Will County Sheriff Auxiliary. He served as a board member for the Deer Run townhome association. Daniel enjoyed his role as an ordained minister. He served as the treasurer and Chaplin for the law enforcement motorcycle club the American Knights. In 2018 Daniel followed his dream and moved to Arizona. He loved his role as a lunch supervisor and crossing guard at Kyrene de le Sierra Elementary School. Daniel was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Benedict Catholic Church and was a founding member of the Irish American Society of County Will Honors.
Daniel's greatest loves were his daughters and his seven grandchildren. He enjoyed riding his Harley and taking trips with his friends. Daniel had a warm and generous heart. His smile and contagious laughter lit up every room he entered. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
Survived by his daughters, Meaghan (Dan) Weber and Kaitlin (Joe) Kirchberg; grandchildren, Nolan, Brady, Elyse, Camille Weber, Joey, Luke, and William Kirchberg; brother, Timothy (Colleen) Malloy; significant other, Allison Wilson. Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Honora Jayne Malloy, and his brothers, Patrick Malloy, and Michael (Alice) Malloy.
Visitation for Dan will be held Sunday, July 9, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10, 2023, at 9:15 am from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, IL 60404, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org will be appreciated.
