David Rivera Obituary

Rivera, David A. "The Legend" "Old Dude" "Big Daddy" Age 57, a lifetime Joliet resident, died peacefully Friday, August 10, 2012 at home with his family at his side. Beloved husband of 38 wonderful years to Jayne (nee Lancaster); loving father of Jay (Karen) Rivera; proud and devoted papa to Ryan and Brenna. Also survived by three sisters and one brother, Joy (Tommy) Davidson, JoAnn (Chad) Summers, Sandra Wilson and Douglas Rivera; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his son in infancy, William; parents, Donald and Dorothy Rivera, Sr.; two brothers, Donald (late Kathy) Rivera II and Michael Rivera. Dave recently retired from the City of Joliet after many years of service. He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and simply enjoying life with his family and friends. As it was David's wish, cremation rites have been accorded, and a memorial visitation will be held Monday, August 13, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Please omit flowers. You don't no us personally we are your neighbors down the alley. David would always wave a hello to us when he was outside cutting his grass. I would always tell my family there is are nice neighbor. I am so sorry for your lost. Just know you have an angel watching over you now! We will miss that friendly wave.

I am so lost for words right now. I want to tell you Jaynie, Jay & Karen (and Ryan & Brenna too) that I wish I can make things better for you. But, I know I a can't, I can only pray to give you strength in the coming days ahead. Dave is no longer suffering in pain. But,your pain & loss will heal some day with the love & support of your families & friends and most importantly the wonderful memories you all shared together that will never be forgotten.
