Delores "Dee" Nelson Watson (Columbus), age 88, died July 1, 2018 at her home in Mesa, AZ. Dee was born September 11, 1929 in Joliet, Illinois to Frank/Margaret (Early) Columbus.
Dee personified class, she was always dressed to impress and loved to shop at Dillards; she put the Dee in Dillards! Designer bag in tow, Dee was an absolute joy to all those around her. She made others feel so special and always flooded them with sincere compliments. Dee was also hilarious, her wit and sense of humor kept everyone laughing no matter their age. Dee loved AZ, where she lived for the past 30 years, volunteering for 6 yrs at the Banner Heart Hospital, traveling to various parts of the state, reading Danielle Steel novels and watching her Phoenix Suns. Dee enjoyed what she called the finer things in life: her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Simply put, Dee's life was a life well lived.
Survived by her daughters, Denise Nelson and Danette Hamilton. Daughter in law, Sharon Nelson. Step children, Joy (Cubbie) Ford, Larry Watson and Jerry Watson. Grandchildren, Peter Jadron, Jillian Grasso, Erik (Nina) Bockholdt, Lauren Hamilton. Great Grandchildren,Joseph, Louis, Samuel Grasso, Grace and Benjamin Bockholdt and Macy Hamilton. Brothers, James (Jan) Columbus, Doug (Teresa) Columbus.
Preceded in death by her son, David Nelson (2017); husband, Raymond Watson (2006); and father of her children, Dale Nelson (1982); brothers, William (Bud) and Dempsey Columbus; and parents, Frank and Margaret Columbus.
A private memorial will be held in Mesa, AZ and Joliet, IL at a later date.
