Donald Aspel Obituary

Age 77, of Wilmington, formerly of Lockport for 73 years, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006 Silver Cross Hispital in Joliet.

Donald is survived by his loving family, his wife 56 years, Betty Apsel (nee Smith); three children, Mike (Pam) Aspel, Pat (Jeannette) Aspel, Peggy (Gary Hank) Hank; six grandchildren, Scott Hank, Marice (Bill) Baker, Samantha Aspel, Philip Aspel, Lauren Aspel, Sarah Aspel; and special brother-in-law, Gene Frank.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Marion Aspel (nee Spangler) ; and one sister, Karen Aspel.

Donald graduated from Lockport Township High School in 1948. He was a US Navy Veteran and retired from Texaco in 1985. Donald was a member of Kings Sons & Daughters, and a member of the American Leagion in Lockport. He was a volunteer fireman and trustee for Homer Township Fire Department for 28 years. Donald was a member of Mudhen Lake Sportsmen Club of Siren Wisconsin and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport, on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. and again on Friday, November 24, 2006 from 10:30 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Homer Congregational Church, 14832 W. 163rd Street, Lockport. Interment at Barnet Cemetery, Lockport. Memorials to the Homer Congregational Church would be appreciated.
