Ellis Fielder Obituary

On a beautiful bright winter day, February 11, 1960, a handsome baby boy, Ellis James Fielder, was born to loving parents, Andrew and Mattie Fielder. He was the second born of four to this union. And what a bundle of joy he was.
James started his educational journey in Illinois, where he attended Sacred Heart, St. Mary and Dirksen schools. He also attended J.T. West High School. He later attended Joliet Junior College studying Industrial courses.
Growing up, James faithfully attended Second Baptist Church. As an adult, he attended several other churches in the area. James' favorite saying was, "By the "Grace of God," which he said very often; which meant to him that "God would take care of the situation!"
James' last employer was Caterpillar, but worked at various companies throughout his adult life.
James had a passion for dressing well, dancing, and sports. In high school, he was very popular. He was on the football team, track team, and also won homecoming attendant position. He was always learning new dance moves so he could show off at the skating rink. As an adult, you could find James on the tennis court or on the ping pong table during his leisure times. During his quiet times, you could find him playing his guitar. He loved "cook outs" with family and friends and often cooked at these events.
James was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Fielder; and grandson, Dominick Nicholson; paternal grandparents, Estell and Mattie Fielders; maternal grandparents, Will and Mattie Croff; several uncles and aunts, and many other relatives and Friends.
James leaves in God's Care: his loving mother, Mattie; sister, Jerye; brothers, Andrew and Perry (Rae Lynn); James was the loving father of three, Nicole, Malisa, and William; also nine grandchildren, one great- grand; brother-in-love, Mark Davis; and uncle, Curtis; Fielder; and aunts, Edna Bell and Louise Evans; and many close relative and friends also survive
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 10:00-11:00AM at Second Baptist Church, 156 S. Joliet St., Joliet, IL. Service at 11:00AM, Pastor Larry V. Tyler, officiating. Private interment..

James was always so friendly and kind. We went to Dirksen and Joliet West together and sure made a lot of good memories. I was so happy when the Fielder family moved to Glenwood, only a few houses away. His smile is always something I will always remember. Wishing his family and friends peace at this difficult time. May his memory be eternal.
