Gary Walk
Died: February 16, 2024
Gary Walk, age 88, passed away suddenly on February 16, 2024. Gary had always been a hardworking man. He began his career working for the City of Joliet as a Civil Engineer before moving on to become Assistant Director of Public Works in Glencoe, IL. He eventually moved on to become the Director of Public Works in Downer's Grove. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and spent 40 years in the Reserves. Gary left the military as a Chief Master Sargeant. He was also a devoted paramedic for 20 years and attended night school in his younger years at Lewis University to attain a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Gary is survived by the love of his life, beloved wife of nearly 68 years, Donna Walk, who he met when both were high school sophomores. Gary also leaves behind two loving and devoted sons, Russell "Russ" (Jami) Walk and Randall Walk; treasured grandchildren Jonathon (Cailin), Micah and Kylie; and a cherished great-grandson Liam Matthew. Gary was preceded in death by his dear son Robert "Robby" Walk; caring parents Leo and Velma; and sister Vera. For the last 21 years, Gary and Donna enjoyed their lakeside home in Fairfield Glade, TN. A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 10am-12pm at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S Hamilton St, Lockport, IL 60441. A memorial service will begin at 12pm, beginning with Military Funeral Honors. Cremation rites have been accorded. (815-838-1533) (www.anderson-goodale.com)
