James "Jim" V. Grebner, 83, of Romeoville, IL, passed away September 7, 2024, at home.
He was born September 28, 1940, to Edmund J. and Anna J. (Nauman) Grebner. He married Karen Miller on May 14, 1966, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Minonk, IL.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Karen; sons Eric (Lisa) Grebner and Mark (Gloria) Grebner; grandchildren Amy, Brian, Tyler, Amber, Zackary and Abby; sister Rosemary (Larry) Christ and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie (Eric) Ferguson; his parents; and siblings Harlan Grebner, Helen Best, Martin Grebner, Lucille Grebner, Barbara Abel, Ralph Grebner, and William Grebner.
Jim graduated from Metamora Township High School. He was a US Army veteran, serving 1961-1964 as a medic posted in Germany. Jim and Karen moved to Romeoville in 1970 to raise their familym and where they have been active members of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. He had a long career in retail sales, including 31 years at JCPenney. He enjoyed gardening, photography, writing poems, tinkering with cars, and spending time with friends, family, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 3-8pm at Anderson Memorial Home, 21131 W Renwick Rd, Plainfield IL 60544. Funeral will be Friday, September 20, 2024 at 10 am at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 505 Kingston Dr, Romeoville IL 60446. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville IL. Dear Karen and family,
So very sorry to hear of Jim´s passing. I worked with him for 27 years at JCPenney. We both loved our jobs in the Men´s Suit department. I have so many great memories that I will always treasure. You kind of wonder if he in charge of the apple trees in heaven. I will remember him in my prayers. RIP dear Jim.
