Age 84 of Joliet, Illinois died Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Salem Village Nursing Home in Joliet.
Born November 29, 1939 in Joliet, Janet Marie was a daughter of John and Bernadette (Lambert) Sullivan. She was raised in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Township High School with the Class of 1957.
Janet was an exceptionally independent person and a hard worker. She began her career at Illinois Bell as a phone operator, and also worked in the kitchen at Merichka's Restaurant and McDonalds in Crest Hill, Illinois. In her spare time, she looked forward to trips to the beach and was especially proud of her Irish heritage. Janet put her family first, enjoying cooking for her entire family, and always made sure to see everyone received a present for their birthdays or for Christmas. She was a kind, gentle woman with a generous soul that would never speak an ill word of anyone.
Survivors include her son, Robert (Julie) Anderson of Diamond, Illinois; three grandchildren: Kate Anderson of Michigan, Matthew (Meghan) Anderson of Wisconsin, and Ryan Anderson of Diamond; one sister-in-law, Joan Sullivan of Crest Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Mark Anderson, and three siblings: Judy Newman, Jack Sullivan, and Mary Kaffer.
Per Janet's wishes, cremation rites were accorded and the family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway Street, in Coal City from 11:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 12:00 p.m.
