Jayne Lee Rivera, age 69, passed away suddenly at her home in Joliet on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Jayne was born in Joliet on December 25, 1954 to the late William and Esther (nee Penosky) Lancaster, and she was a lifetime resident. On April 6, 1974, Jayne married the love of her life, David Rivera, and the two were inseparable until his passing in 2012. This past April would have marked their 50th anniversary.
She worked for many years for Dr. Fritz's Eye Care in Joliet, and more recently for the City of Joliet, which she retired from in 2011.
However, Jayne's main focus was her family. She loved being a grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, especially for the Boys snowmobiling and 4-wheeling trips. She also enjoyed time spent outdoors, whether it was boating or camping trips, or gardening around her home. Jayne also had a love for crafting, and she was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Jayne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Karen Rivera; her grandchildren, Ryan and Brenna Rivera; her brother, John (Liz) Lancaster; and sister-in-law, Linda Lancaster.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Rivera; her infant son, William Rivera; her parents, William and Esther Lancaster; her brother, Dale Lancaster; dear aunt, Jean Barrows' and just recently her beloved canine companion, Gemma.
