Joe Milas
Age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Edward Hospital in Naperville surrounded by family and his loving poodle Winnie. Born and raised in Chicago, lived in Blue Island, and a resident of Lockport since 1970. Joe was a dedicated truck driver for 39 years, retiring from Consolidated Freightways in 1999. He loved vintage cars, working in his garage and was a true Mr. Fix it. He was a loyal family man and cherished spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Shirley (Nee Hohimer) Milas 2020; one daughter, Marilyn (Gerald) Strzezewski; his parents, John and Anna (Nee Marusin) Milas; two siblings in infancy; two brothers, Michael and George Milas; three sisters, Sylvia Bala Mikulecky, Irene Stachnik, and Helen Hoban.
Survived by his five devoted children, Joseph (Toni) Milas, Beverly (Anthony) Jakubiak, David Milas, Larry Milas, and Rodney (Traci) Milas; grandchildren, Dave Jr., Kathryn, Jeff, Brandon, Sarah, Grace, Michael, Gerald, April, Cindy, and Zachary; great grandchildren, Savannah, Cameron, Lucas, Aurora, Alyvia, Elyana, Bennett, Alexis, Adrian, Bogdan, Anthony, Gerald, Thomas, Patrick, and Margaret; and one great-great grandchild, Jaxon; Numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members also survive.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. Funeral Service on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00am with Deacon Lupe Villareal officiating. Immediately following a Graveside Service will be held Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Justice.
