Joseph Pochervina Obituary

Age 77, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Joe was born on January 26, 1930; a lifelong Joliet-area resident.

Preceding him in death were his father, Joseph Pochervina and mother, Rose (Peredetto) Pochervina; father in law, Raymond Baldigo; and brother-in-law, David Robertson.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Nancy (nee Baldigo) Pochervina; and three sons, Joseph (Melody) Pochervina of Crest Hill, John (Sabine) Pochervina of Arizona, and James Pochervina of Joliet. Also surviving are his sister, Rosemarie Robertson and nephews, David Robertson and Joe (Karen) Robertson. He is also survived by grandchildren, Joseph, Eric, and Monique of Arizona and Justin and Jane of Crest Hill. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Stephanie Baldigo of Arizona and close family friend, Francesca Serena. "Uncle Jr." will be missed by all including, Michelle (Matt) Zanzola, D.J., Shannon and Katie Jo Robertson.

Joe attended Chaney-Monge Grade School and graduated from Lockport Township High School. He truly loved his Chaney and Lockport years, speaking of them often and the friendships built then.

Joe retired from General Cigar Company and was most recently the owner of Joe's Cigar Company in Joliet. He loved being at the store with friends and family.

Joe also spent many years singing and playing bass for the Gene Victor Orchestra and T.T. Nelson along with other local bands. He played many proms, weddings and social events during those years with the bands.

He was a member of St. Jude's Church in Joliet and Local 37 Musicians Union.

Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. to St. Jude's Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Friday, 2-8 p.m. Memorials to St. Jude's Building Fund or Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.

Dear Joe, Melody and Family, I was so sorry to hear of Joe Sr's passing and did not realize that you were relatives until I saw the obituary. Joe's Cigar Shop is one of my favorite places.
