June Neef Obituary

Neef, June Adair Age 92, passed away to her eternal home on November 5, 2012 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. June was born May 20, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Bertha (Iten) and Herman Glindkamp, and sister of Dorothy Glindkamp (Frank) Wersching. On May 9, 1942, June married John David Neef, Sr. (deceased 2005), the son of Dr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Neef, of Rogers Park, Illinois. She and John enjoyed 62 years of marriage as they raised their three children, John, Jr. (A'nna), Jalayne "Jaye"Ahoyt, and Jim (Pat) Neef. They later welcomed their grandchildren, Jason (Wendy) Neef, Justin (Karen) Ahoyt, Nolan Neef and Nealy Neef (Erik) Peters and were blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, McKenna, Caden, Maevry Neef, Madelynn, Nathan, and Connor Ahoyt, Bianca and Drey Wisdom, and Emmett and Malloy Peters. June worked for many years at the Plainfield National Bank, and later as a Secretary for Chicago Bridge and Iron Company. June and John retired to Mt. Dora, Florida for a period of time and returned to their Plainfield home in 1996. June was passionate about fashion, and loved to entertain her friends and family. She took pleasure in knitting, sewing, and sharing her fine baking skills with others. June was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. At June's request, a private graveside service will be held at the Plainfield Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice, at 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431. There are no words to describe our gratitude for the amazing care, support, and compassion provided to June and the entire family during her ongoing 6 year relationship with the various Hospice team members. The family also wishes to thank all those at Lakewood Nursing Center who cared so lovingly for her during her final years. "To my family and friends, my everlasting love and my wish that your lives be filled with good health and much happiness". (June A. Sympathy and best wishes from a distant cousin. I came upon this account of June Neef's life while searching for information about my great-uncle Dr. Raymond J. Neef, the brother of my grandmother, Clara (Neef) Ross. I think he must have been June's father-in-law. According to an undated photocopy I have of my great-uncle's wedding announcement in the local newspaper, he was married to Mima Beggs at Crown Point, Indiana. I'm looking for somebody in the family to whom I could give the leather-bound commencement program I have for the Class of 1915 at the Chicago College of Medicine and Surgery; it lists Raymond as a member of the graduating class. This keepsake came to me in my grandmother's effects; do let me know if there's somebody in the Neef family that I can pass it on to.
Meanwhile, many thanks, and my condolences to all of you. It sounds like a grand family.
