Leonard Elberts Obituary
Age 85. Friday, April 18, 2008 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Born In Joliet and a lifelong Joliet area resident. A U.S. World War II Marine veteran serving on Guadalcanal. Retired after thirty-eight years of service from the Joliet Fire Department as a lieutenant and fire inspector. A longtime volunteer at the Shepherd's Table in downtown Joliet.
Preceded by his wife, Dolores (nee O'Reilly) Elberts (1998); his parents, Joseph and Helen Elberts; four brothers, Joseph, Robert, Richard and James Elberts; and two sisters, Helen Briske and Kathleen Oliver.
Survived by three sons, Lee (Sheila), Paul (Tricia) and Steve (Lori) Elberts; two sisters, Isabel "Ibby" Elberts and Geraldine Huston; two sisters-in-law, Betty McShane and Joan Legan; eight grandchildren, Angie, Sara, Mike, Joe, Andrew, Kevin, Matt and Sam; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service for Leonard Elberts will be Monday, April 21, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Private inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home or Joliet Area Community Hospice in his name would be appreciated. Family will receive friends at St. Patrick Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by:

Sorry to hear of your loss,you will be in my prayers. I was on the fire dept from 1958 to 1961 Then I left and went to Calif. where i also retired from on a fire Dept on dissability,Again He wil be in my prayers,and my prayers will be with family.
