Lucy grew up in rural Sublette/Maytown, IL. She graduated from Amboy High School in Amboy, IL and completed her nursing training at St. Charles Hospital in Aurora, IL. She worked as a registered nurse at the old St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL and moved with the hospital to its current location. She worked continuously part-time since 1964 in the post-partum dept, until she retired in 1985.
She volunteered in many roles in support of St. Mary's Assumption Church including President of the Mother's Club. She then went on to support and volunteer at St. John the Baptist Church as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the choir, St. John's Food Pantry and various leadership roles with the Council of Catholic Women. She also volunteered with the Will Grundy Clinic, two medical missions to Bolivia with the Joliet Diocese, Daybreak Shelter, and assisted with charity work in Mississippi through the Franciscans of Dubuque, IA.

Mom was an inspiration to all of us. She was always upbeat. She had a strong work ethic - even when she was dying, she requested her funeral to be on a Saturday so people wouldn't have to take off work.
