Michael E. Mufich Sr., age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 2, 2021.
Mike is survived by his loving daughter, Lindsay Michelle Gunier; siblings, Dave (Sandy) Mufich, Mark (Linda) Mufich, Maria (Randy) Jones and Tammy (Mark) Crabtree; nieces, Stephanie Jones, Amanda (Jimmy) Herbert and Krista (Jasand) Ross; great-nephews and nieces, Danny Bartosik, Gabe Ross, Kendall and Kennedy Herbert.
Preceded in death by his children, Michael Edward Jr. and Kaitlin Elizabeth in infancy; parents, Edward and Dorothy (nee Simonic) Mufich.
Mike graduated from Lockport West High School in 1972. He began working at Merichka's Restaurant at the age of 19. He later went on to become a meat cutter at Jewel Osco for 30 years retiring in 2019. Mike enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, and loved being on the water. His unparalleled personality made him loved by many. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Per Mike's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
Family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A celebration of Mike's life will continue on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 with a short visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. I recently met Mikey through my parents (John and Sylvia churnovic). He was such a sweet and funny guy! Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mikey's family and friends. He's already missed.
