Norma L. Morrow
Norma Louise Morrow, age 83, of Channahon, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at home, with her loving family by her side.
Born November 12, 1937 in Olive Branch, IL, she was the daughter of Richard W. and Zola Opal (Jameson) Ollis, and was a graduate of Thebes Township High School, Class of 1956.
Norma was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her grandchildren and they adored her. In addition to being a wonderful cook, she also enjoyed sewing and canning. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her distinctive laugh.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 62 years, Gerald E. Morrow; three children, Julie (Lawrence Wilfert) Boswell of Minooka, Rhonda (Patrick O'Keefe) Rumchak of Channahon, and Danny (Christine) Morrow of Channahon; six grandchildren, Ian (Scarlett) Boswell, Emily Boswell, Zachery Rumchak, Kyle Rumchak, Nathaniel Morrow and Katherine Morrow; three great-grandchildren, Jillian Kelly, Mia Flowers, and Brody Boswell; one sister, Helen (the late Fred) Stilley of Anna, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald Ollis and Dale Ollis; and three sisters, Mary Dodd, Clara Mae Bledsoe, and Rosena Poole.
Visitation for Norma Morrow will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

"Stand back. Look out below!"
A voice from above speaks, while drywall, doors, ceiling tiles, bird nests, and debris fly down the stairway crashing into a heap by the exterior door as the demolition for remodeling continues.
"Sounds like you have a demolition crew working upstairs."
Gerald says, "It's just Norma. Stay away from her when she uses a crow bar and swings a sledge hammer. I know she's been drinking Irish whiskey in her coffee, this morning."
"I hear you talking about me, down there, old man. Never mind how I doctor up my coffee. I want to get this job done, so I have a house to live in. Stay away from the bottom of the steps. I'm not going to just sit in a chair and watch others work like I am some kind of queen bee. Don't come up here bothering me, and I won't come down until the demolition is done. So, stay away from the bottom of the stairs. I am tearing this upstairs apart, and I am enjoying my job."
"Better stay away from the steps and do what she says," Gerald says.
"We are going to need a lot more two by fours."
"Twenty two by fours are on the list for today, so I bought twenty four this morning. Four extra. Is that enough?" Gerald asks.
"Should be enough to build this wall for the kitchen."

When the slamming, banging, breaking, prying, and crunching stops, Norma finishes the demolition upstairs. The heap of debri below the steps makes a impassible detour, so she climbs out the upstairs window and down a ladder.

After framing the two by four wall for the kitchen on the living room floor, we find no matter how we manuver, no matter how we try, we cannot move the wall into the kitchen in one piece.

The next day, we use forty five two by fours. A day later, one hundred and twenty two by fours for the upstairs framing. The next day, ten two by fours are on the list of material for a closet, and the number of two by fours varies, each day, accordingly as the remodeling progresses.

The next morning, Norma and Gerald go to the lumberyard for material without any two by fours on the list.

The guy at the lumberyards waiting on them asks, "How many two by fours do you need, today?"

We bought one two by four.
