Richard 'Rick' Oltmanns
Died: November 14, 2024
Richard "Rick" Oltmanns, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 14th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Rick was a master carver and president of his carving club, The Will County Wood Chiselers, a fisherman, a loyal Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, and an avid domino player with members of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church. Rick worked a commendable 35 years at Caterpillar as a Planning Supervisor in Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from Lemont Township High School in 1951 and enjoyed monthly reunions with his peers. His stories, kindness, and presence will be deeply missed.
Rick is survived by his dear children, Merri Hauter, Jim (Dawn (nee Mitchell)) Oltmanns, and Debbie Mellas; daughter-in-law Kellie (Nick) Nahas; treasured grandchildren Jenn (John), Lisa (Jason), Becky, Dave, Jolene (Ryan), Nicole, Courtney (Drew), Mitchell, Andrew, Krisxan, and Angela; seven cherished great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and his favorite companion animal, Wrigley. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna (nee Ziesemer); parents, Raymond and Frances (nee János) Oltmanns; sister, Ruth (Bill); dear son, Richard; daughter-in-law Nancy; and granddaughter, Andrea. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 10am-12pm at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 925 E Ninth St, Lockport, IL 60441. The funeral service will begin at noon at the church. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W Jefferson St, Joliet IL 60431.
