Died: January 19, 2022
Age 77, of Largo, FL formerly of Braidwood, IL passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in Florida. Born March 4, 1944 in Norfolk, NE to the late Willis and Esther (nee Jensen) Ritze. He enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1962, serving during Vietnam, and was honorably discharge in 1966. Richard retired from the Cement Mason's Local #11, Area 161, Will County. He was a member of the Braidwood American Legion Koca Post# 39 and was an active volunteer at the Guardian Angel Home in Joliet, IL. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time in Florida after his retirement. Surviving are his wife of fifty-three years, Leanna (nee Janssen) Ritze of Largo, FL; two children, Jim (Debbie) Ritze of Braidwood and Jeannette (Dan) Olson of Somonauk, IL; four grandchildren, Callie and Jimmy Ritze, Zachary and Brady Olson; one brother, William (Sandra) Ritze of Braidwood; niece, Kimberly (Joe) Heinz; nephew, William Ritze, Jr.; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and their families. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial visitation for Richard will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Friday, July 1, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial services at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
