Gone but not forgotten. WE love you Ryan

Marty Shimkus

October 29, 2010

I think of Ryan and his family quite often since this tragic accident. I was one of Ryan's Wrestling Coaches at the Intermediate School. I can honestly say that when others post that Ryan was a very special kid that they are "spot-on". His positive attitude and contagious smile in that wrestling room was appreciated and made my job fun. His smile made ME smile! Ryan seemed like the type of kid that enjoyed being wherever he was at the time doing whatever. He was always happy! Not a care in the world. I will miss him very much in that wrestling room this year.

The Shimkus family can only offer our condolences and I cherish my thoughts of Ryan of the time I did spend with him. He was only a couple of practices away from mastering that double leg takedown! Again, Ryan was a great kid and will be sadly missed by everybody.

this is nicole and i wish i could have knew ryan but he passed befor i could. from what i have heard, i bet he was a great kid and im sorry for your loss. i have lost a lot of important people in my life but i havent lost a son (then again im only 13). but i want you to know i am a very good friend of your daughter and you know me and that we are best friends. i dont know how to tell you how sorry i am. but i can tell you even if you know this, ashley thinks about him everyday. she even wants to make a poem book for him. she is the best sister, daughter and friend anyone could ever have and i know you know that but i wanted you to know that i know that. ashley has some great poems and i dont know if i was suppose to tell you that she was making a book but i did so to late haha. but you are like a mom to me even if a barley met you. i feel we are close. also i cant tell how much i wanted to meet your son. i dont know how much i can type than actually talk but im not with you now so this is my way of telling you all this. i dont think i could handle telling you in person without crying by the first word i say. i dont think i could even stand to see you cry if you would cry to this. so i just wanted to tell you this and hope me and ashley stay bff til the end and we never get in fights. i love amber and talynn and john and you and ashley like my own family. and i want to keep it that way. i will always dream of how ryan was and what he was like and i will pray for the sake of your family even if we are in fights or we disagree. i want to stay in your family not trying to push in the family i woulg never do that after ryan. i just want to stay as a friend and over time it might change but not now. so i hope you look at this and remember im thinking of you and your family!

You do not know me,nor I you, however I found Ryan by accident while looking for someone else. Or was it an accident?? All I can say to you is that Ryan is with Jesus at this very moment. Please get the book "90 minutes in Heaven", it is very popular for those of us who have lost a loved one. It goes into detail what Heaven is like. It is the story of a young man who died for 90 min (pronounced dead by paramedics at scene of accident), went to Heaven and was told it was not his time, that he had to return to earth, he did not want to, but was forced back into his body. So please, I urge you to get the book, the beginning of the book is the most important is the first few chapters that describe his experience in Heaven, after that it is really too much detail for anyone. My loving, kind, caring husband died all too soon two years ago, suddenly. I was encouraged to buy this book for my 2 children to read to help them deal with loosing their father so suddenly and so young. I hold onto that book and read it over and over some days to assure me that he is there and that he is happy. The best part is that one day we will be together again, that is God's promise to us, if we believe in Him. Turn to the Lord, He will give you the grace you need to get through this and call Him for His promise, I did! One day I will be with my husband again, until then I just have to hold God to His promise. Oh, by the way, I also do a lot of praying, it really does help. May God Bless you all at this tragic time in your lives, I am praying for you and your family. But, as you said, he was only on loan to you for a short while. Jesus needed Angel Ryan at that moment or He would not have called him home!

February 6, 2010

I am truly sorry to hear about your loss.. They always say that there is a reason for everything the saddest part is sometimes we may never know the reason.. may you hold you son close to your heart and believe that he will always be there with you in spirit.. god bless you and your family..

My most heartfelt sympathies to the family. I just lost my best friend and brother on January 14, 2010, in a car accident. He was only 26 years old. I know the pain you are going through, I share it with you. To me, there is no understanding a little boy like Ryan, passing away. It is beyond the capacity of thought. All I can say is PRAY, everyday, and as God to give you the strength you need to move forward in life.

Matthew 19:13-15
14 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

I thought you'd like this poem:

You never said "I'm leaving"
You never said goodbye
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why

A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried
If Love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died

In Life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill

It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

I did not know him very well or for very long but Ryan radiated life and love, innocence and faith... he was the SWEETEST boy and we who knew him were truly blessed. There are no words to truly console a family who has lost a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, or a cousin... but Ryan has finally gotten the last piece of his angelic soul, his wings. He looks down on us all and smiles that beautiful smile. He is our guardian angel and may he always be remembered.
We love you Ryan, always and forever!!

Words cannot express my shock when I realized that this tragic story was not only connected to a family I know; but the smiling boy in the picture was the sweet little baby I cared for over 10 years ago named Ryan whose smile lit up rooms even then.
